Two New Drink-IT Modules

Drink-IT has developed a B2G (Business to Government) solution for EMCS. EMCS - Excise Movement and Control System - is a computerised system of the European Union for monitoring movements of excise goods under suspension of excise duty within the EU.

EMCS has been developed by the European Union, for the purpose of having a better control on the transport of excise duty goods between the member states, by means of electronic communication. The excise tax rates in the member states of the European Union are different and must be paid in the member state, in which the excise tax goods are consumed. This is the reason why excise goods, which are being transported between the member states of the European Union, must be known to the Customs Authorities of the member states.

Since the law of 22 December 2009 has come into effect, which concerns the general regulations regarding excise duties, EMCS was started up in Belgium as of 1 April 2010. Due to the introduction of this system, the ‘Administrative Accompanying Document’ has taken the place of the electronic variant, the e-AD (electronic administrative document), to communicate the movement from the consignor, where the goods leave the tax warehouse, to the consignee via Member State administrations. The written AAD comes into disuse as of 1 January 2011. This modification is important for dispatchers, transporters and the addressees of excise goods under a suspension of excise duties. EMCS therefore has become a legal obligation imposed by the European Union.

Drink-IT has developed a B2G (Business to Government) solution, which makes it possible to exchange electronic information between companies and the administration of the member state, for the transport of excise goods under suspension of excise duties. This EMCS module will make it possible to submit an e-AD electronically and to settle it via XML messages.Drink-IT, logistic movements & full inventory management for goods under suspension are aligned with the requirements of the e-AD.

The first EMCS implementation has in the meantime been successfully completed at the Bavik Brewery from Bavikhove. In addition to this pilot project, the EMCS module has also been implemented at 6 other beverage manufacturers.

SSCC Tracking

The module SSCC Tracking provides a framework to implement a scanning solution based on the Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC), which is an international standard to identify logistics units. Scanned information will be linked to movements in sales, purchase and warehouse movements.

All receptions, production output, deliveries, repackaging and the preparation of mixed pallets are registered in an automated way using handheld devices. The scanning system communicates in real time with the Drink-IT SQL database.

The scanned information, linked to all movements, enables a full tracing of the finished goods in the market. This is in line with international food & beverage legislations.

Currently the pilot project is being implemented at a Belgian brewery with a full scope.
