Kirkstall finds the recipe for growth with Drink-IT

The Kirkstall Brewery likes the taste of success and plans to double the size of its business over the next few years. With Drink-IT, Kirkstall has found the recipe for growth with refreshingly new possibilities to manage their three business units in a single, integrated software solution.

Bringing best practise to the heart of the business

A brewing heritage stretching back to the 12th century when Cistercian monks founded an abbey on the banks of the River Aire at Kirkstall, the company today runs the Kirkstall Brewery, the Vertical Brands importing and drinks wholesaling business and its own pub company. Kirkstall sees an enormous level of consumer interest for craft beer in the UK, and the company has ambitious growth plans for all parts of the business.

Leading the way among UK beers

In need of capacity to increase their beer production, Kirkstall moved to a new brewery site in the centre of Leeds, which has given them the capacity to brew up to 15,000 hectolitres of beer each year. To support its ambitious growth plans, Kirkstall needed a beverage management solution that enabled the company to incorporate and provide optimal business processes across all of its business operations. Kirkstall chose Drink-IT.

Captures growth by running the brewery like the best

By choosing Drink-IT, Kirkstall is able to deploy best practise processes and replace old, separate finance and operations systems that have been holding back their business development and efficiency due to frustrating limitations in functionality and a lack of possibilities to integrate key business processes.

With Drink-IT, all of Kirkstall´s business processes have been integrated, optimised, and streamlined end-to-end across all three business units, from sales order to cash collection, production planning and quality management, purchasing and inventory management and full financial accounting and tax and duty management.

Kirkstall anticipates a number of specific benefits from Drink-IT that align with their business objectives. A key ingredient is the ability to expand and manage their brewing capacity in an efficient manner. With Drink-IT they´ve got a system that can dramatically improve their control over the planning of their beer production and their management of the production through the entire process from received raw material through to production of finished goods.

Drink-IT’s automated processes will enable Kirkstall to save a lot of time currently spent on manual administration, reduce their operating costs and increase sales by optimising their in-house warehouse and distribution operations and expanding the direct distribution of their products nationwide.

Kirkstall also anticipates that they will be able to benefit from using Drink-IT to grow their import business by using Drink-IT functionality that makes it much easier,  more efficient and controllable for them to import and distribute the  craft beers and artisan spirits from around the world that they are bringing to the UK market.
